Privacy Policy

Last updated 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Anchor & Spear collects, uses, and protects information through the Tree Service Estimator (the "Service"), a configurable, branded ballpark-estimate tool that tree service businesses ("contractors") use to collect project requests from homeowners.

Information We Collect From Contractors

When a contractor creates and configures a business account, we collect:

  • Account and authentication information (email address and password), handled by our authentication provider.
  • Business information you provide, such as your company name.
  • Your estimator configuration: which services you offer, your pricing ranges, complexity adjustments, professional-review threshold, and customer-facing disclaimer text.
  • Your notification preferences (e.g. the email address or phone number you want new-lead notifications sent to).
  • Branding choices you make, such as an uploaded logo image and a selected color theme.

Information We Collect From Homeowners

When a homeowner uses a contractor's estimator link, we collect the information needed to generate a ballpark estimate and deliver it to that contractor as a lead:

  • The service/project type selected and answers to the project-detail questions asked.
  • Photos you upload of the project, and any markers you place on those photos to indicate areas of concern.
  • Contact information you provide when submitting a request: your name, and either an email address or phone number depending on your preferred contact method.

How We Use Information

We use the information above to:

  • Operate the estimator, including generating a ballpark estimate from a contractor's own pricing configuration and a homeowner's answers.
  • Deliver each completed estimate request to the relevant contractor as a lead, together with any photos and markers submitted.
  • Notify a contractor by email when a new lead is submitted.
  • Let a contractor manage their own account, configuration, branding, and leads.
  • Maintain, secure, and improve the Service.

Service Providers

We rely on third-party service providers to operate the Service. These providers process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own independent purposes:

  • Supabase: database hosting, authentication, and file storage for uploaded photos and logos.
  • Vercel: application hosting.
  • Resend: delivery of transactional emails, such as new-lead notifications to contractors.

Data Retention

We retain contractor account and configuration data for as long as the account remains active, and homeowner lead/request data for as long as needed to make it available to the relevant contractor and to operate the Service. We do not currently publish a fixed retention schedule; if you would like data associated with your account or a request you submitted removed, contact us as described below.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect information handled by the Service. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Cookies and Browser Storage

We keep this deliberately narrow, and describe only what the Service actually uses today:

  • Session storage: while a homeowner is using a contractor's estimator, we use your browser's session storage to remember which contractor's estimator you're using for the current browser session, so the correct services and pricing keep loading as you move through the estimator. This clears when you close your browser tab.
  • Authentication session storage: when a contractor signs in, our authentication provider uses browser storage to keep that session active.

We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

No Sale of Personal Information

We do not sell personal information collected through the Service.

Your Rights and Choices

You can contact us to ask what information we hold about you, to request a correction, or to request deletion, and we will respond consistent with our obligations and the technical limitations described above (for example, a contractor's stable estimator link is tied to their account and configuration).

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the Service changes. If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
